Photos, Part 5

Speaking of our lovely visual creatures, a.k.a. men, no matter how shallow it may seem, guys are, and most likely always will be visual. If you have a nice body, don't hesitate showing it off a little. That doesn't mean showing a wide, gaping cleavage shot, or wearing a string bikini. But let them see first hand how all that hard work at the gym has paid off! (Speaking of bikinis, if you elect to wear one in your photo, my only comment is, you better still look like that when you meet the guy.)

Guys like to see more than just your face. If you don't like how you look, don't worry about it, they may not mind.

But if you really don't like how you look, dress according to your size for a more pleasing look. In other words, if you're a size 14, don't squeeze into a size 8 hoping to "impress" the guys. Yes, it's a known fact that the average person carries a few extra pounds. Either accept it, or do something about it. Just don't try to lie about it.

Of all the guys I have spoken with, the "most popular" complaint I hear is that women never look like their photo. It wasn't exactly taken yesterday, more like "50 pounds ago." Misrepresenting yourself will get you absolutely nowhere, and it says more about you than hiding a few pounds. How can you benefit by putting up a photo that doesn't look like you? Do you really think they won't notice when you finally meet later on?

As I mentioned earlier, covering up who you are is only going to let the other person down. Yes, weight is probably one of the biggest. . .or I should say, main reasons why men may not answer an ad. I don't want to sound mean or cold, but that's the sad truth, in a nutshell. On the other hand, there are pa-lenty of guys who don't mind a woman with a little extra weight, and there are some guys who actually look for plus-size women. So, you decide how you want to handle things from here on out, straightforward, or not so straightforward. If you want this thing to work, you have to work with it! DON'T be deceptive!

Do not, I repeat, do not lie or cover up anything about your looks. People can get around a few extra pounds much easier than they can the lying.

One friend of mine mentioned to me that she wasn't getting many responses from her ad and I had a difficult time figuring out why, her being an attractive brunette and all, so I started asking questions to see what her strategy was. The first thing I asked her was what photo she used. She said she posted a photo of her standing next to her aunt. After scratching my head in disbelief, I asked, "Why did you choose a photo that included your aunt?" She quipped, "Because I love her." Unless you're advertising for a menage a trios, I'd stick to having just you in the photo. Guys might think that the other woman is the owner of the brothel down the street, or worse yet, what you might look like without makeup! Who knows how the male mind works, it sure baffles me at times.
